About us
A Social Justice Movement Like No Other!
Genesis PRC is meant to bridge the gap between social injustice and God’s Love. We do not advocate abortion. We do, however, understand there are many factors at play when making this decision.
Consider the environment of Detroit. While overall crime has declined, the statistics reported by Detroit’s Police Chief indicate an uptick in shooting related to gang violence. Additionally, non-fatal shooting and robberies increased in 2019. Further, according to the University of Michigan, Detroit’s poverty rate is at 35%, which is three times higher than the national average. Moreover, the child poverty rate is 50%. This type of environment puts an extraordinary amount of stress on a pregnant woman, more so than her suburban counterpart. The lack of quality resources, overcrowded clinics with overtaxed staff, very few fresh and healthy food options, inadequate public transportation and/or the lack of personal transportation all mixed with an inadequate public school system creates a sense of hopelessness – all contributing factors for low birth weights, infant mortality and abortion.
A pregnant woman cannot hear about the love of God when she has no heat, no food, no water, or no shelter. If these basic needs are not met, women in crisis cannot hear the Spiritual message that God loves them and will make provisions. Genesis PRC seeks to aid in healing through providing resources to pregnant women and their unborn child’s father in a manner that they can become self-sufficient. GPRC provides a caring community where women feel they are cared for and not just the baby they are carrying.
The Genesis Mission
To Help Women, and Men, Realize and Maximize Their Full Potential Through Resources and Faith
The Genesis Vision
Genesis PRC’s vision is to restore families back in the community on a Christian foundation by promoting healing, self-sufficiency, self-esteem and personal responsibility. These are our values:
- We value the lives of both the child and the mother
- We promote a personal relationship with Christ
- We affirm the mother in a way where she is confident she can have a stable, safe life, regardless of current circumstances
- We promote self-healing
- We encourage co-parenting, including fathers in all aspects of programming
- We support traditional family lifestyle, based in the Christian faith
- The main goal of Genesis PRC is that at the end of a woman’s time with Genesis, she is ready to step out into the world more confident that she can take care of herself and her child(ren). She is able to identify toxic behaviors and relationships. She will seek out healthy and nurturing relationships and surround herself with people who care, support and pour love into her. She will experience the love of Christ throughout this journey and continue her walk with Him as her guide and draw upon Him for her strength through trials and weaknesses. She will become a Christ-centered woman.
Renowned Family Therapist and Author, Virginia Satir said it best when she wrote, “We must not allow other people’s limited perceptions to define us.” That’s why Genesis is a social justice movement like no other!

Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We currently are only offering services virtually online until a suitable physical location can be secured. Once a building is secured that will accommodate all the various types of programming we offer, we will celebrate with a great grand opening…and you’re invited!
I don’t go to church. I’m not sure if I even believe in God. Can I still participate?
Of course you can! No one is going to beat you over the head with a bible! All are welcome! It is our hope that you do feel the Love of Christ through OUR words and deeds and the services we provide.
How much do you charge for your services?
All services provided by and through Genesis PRC are free to our clients. We rely on the kindness of our donors and sponsors to help us bring free services to you!
Do I have to live in the city of Detroit?
No, you do not have to live in Detroit to receive services from Genesis PRC.
When you are in a building, will you offer abortions?
The short answer is no. What we will do is have an honest conversation with you about why you think abortion is your only option. We won’t judge your decision, but we hope you trust Genesis PRC to walk with you on your pregnancy journey should you change your mind.
I’m an expectant dad, but the mom isn’t in your program. Can I still participate?
Our Counsel of Dads program is designed specifically for expectant fathers of women enrolled in Genesis PRC. However, if the mom is not enrolled in GPRC, we hope you can encourage her to enroll. If she is not interested, you may still participate in some Counsel of Dads activities and resources.
What ages do you service?
We service all pregnant women over the age of 18.
